KORA and Suan Lahu Organic Coffee Farm officially launch the LESS (Low Emission Support Scheme) project
LESS is a greenhouse gas reduction mechanism developed by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Organization (TGO) to support voluntary GHG mitigation activities. The initiative aims to raise awareness about reducing greenhouse gas emissions and recognises positive actions with a Letter of Recognition (LOR).
This LESS project focuses on measuring and monitoring tree carbon sequestration within the Suan Lahu organic coffee farm and agroforestry.
This project is made possible through the collaboration between:
🤝 KORA Climate Co., Ltd. — offering funding and technical expertise in carbon measurement.
🤝 Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University — providing expertise in geography and forest survey methods, along with equipment and student support.
🤝 The Forest Restoration and Research Unit of Chiang Mai University (FORRU-CMU) — providing special forestry equipment.
🧑🏻🌾 Suan Lahu Organic Coffee Farm — serving as the project site and providing dedicated field workers.
We have just finished the tree measuring at Suan Lahu farm. Next step is to calculate tree carbon sequestration in the farm using both satellite imagery and forest inventory method data. Let’s discover how much baseline tree carbon the farm has in this more than 15-year-old forest! 🍃
